Former Braintree Town goalkeeper Jacob Knightbridge has completed a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur's under-21 squad. The 22-year-old's move was officially announced by the Premier League club on August 28, 2026.

Knightbridge spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Braintree Town from Oxford United, making two appearances in the National League. His path to Spurs included a trial period with Southend United earlier this summer and two years with Oxford United, whom he joined on a free transfer after leaving West Ham United in 2024. Braintree Town, currently 20th in the National League - South with three points from three games, have conceded eight goals this season.

Jacob Knightbridge developed through West Ham United's youth system, rising to under-21 level and signing his first professional contract in May 2022. While with the Hammers, he was an unused substitute for significant European fixtures, including the Europa League last-16 second leg against SC Freiburg and both legs of the quarter-final clash with Bayer Leverkusen. He departed the London Stadium without making a senior appearance. After his release, he joined Oxford United and was immediately sent out on loan, first to AFC Totton and then to Braintree Town for the 2024/25 campaign.

The move represents a significant step for the young goalkeeper and fulfills a personal ambition. Knightbridge is a boyhood Tottenham Hotspur fan. His signing was confirmed by the club's under-21 lead, Chris Cowlin, who stated, "We are delighted to announce the signing of Jacob Knightbridge." The goalkeeper brings experience from training at a Premier League level and match exposure in the National League, which Spurs will hope to develop further. His recent trial at Southend United kept him sharp ahead of this permanent switch.

Braintree Town's focus remains on their own campaign, where they sit nine points behind league leaders Dagenham & Redbridge after a mixed start. The Iron have a goal difference of minus four, having scored four and conceded eight. Their next challenge is an away fixture against 17th-placed Chelmsford City on December 26.
