Braintree have lost striker Anisius Lewis to National League rivals Aldershot Town. The forward completed his move on Friday, weakening Braintree's attack as they sit in the National League South with points from games.
Manager Scott Davies highlighted Lewis's physical presence as a key reason for the signing. "Anisius is someone that we really liked when we played against Braintree in pre-season so for us to secure his signature is a massive positive," Davies said. He added, "At 6ft 3in, he brings something different to our front line which we have been missing for physical presence."
The departure comes at a challenging time for Braintree, who are points adrift of leaders Maidstone United. Their recent form has been mixed, with wins, one draw, and defeats in their last five outings, culminating in a loss to Dorking Wanderers last week. Lewis scored in that game, one of goals Braintree have netted this season while conceding.
Braintree must now regroup without the tall forward as they prepare to host bottom-placed Walton & Hersham this weekend. Fans can check the full schedule on the club's fixtures page and view the updated squad list on the squad page. The match at Cressing Road offers a chance to build on their recent home win over Needham Market and move away from the relegation zone.
