Braintree Town Defender Signs for Bury Town FC
Braintree Town defender Tommy Smith has signed for Bury Town FC. The 36-year-old defender, who has just returned from World Cup duty with New Zealand, has linked up with the Blues, who are managed by ex-Colchester United midfielder, Cole Skuse.
Smith made 95 league and cup appearances for Colchester during his three-year spell at the JobServe Community Stadium, between 2020 and 2023. He has also played for the likes of Sunderland, MK Dons and Colorado Rapids, during his long and successful career.
Why it matters for Braintree
The transfer of Smith to Bury Town FC is a significant blow to Braintree Town, who have lost a key defender. The club will need to find a replacement for Smith, who has been a regular starter for the team.
Braintree Town will need to regroup and find a way to replace Smith's defensive prowess. The club will be looking to strengthen their squad in the upcoming transfer window.
