Braintree Sign Vlad Paternoster and George Evans

Braintree Town have signed Vlad Paternoster and George Evans in a bid to strengthen their squad. Vlad Paternoster, a 20-year-old centre-back, joins the club on a free transfer from Luton Town. He made his debut for the Iron in their 3-2 win over Chesham United in National League South.

Paternoster was born in Milan but raised in England from the age of one. He spent time in the Tottenham Hotspur and Shrewsbury Town academies and played for Hemel Hempstead Town in National League South. He joined Luton after a successful trial in June 2024 and signed a professional development contract for the Hatters later that summer.

Why it Matters for Braintree

Braintree boss Steve Pitt is hoping that Paternoster will unlock his potential, particularly with the club's track record with young players over the last couple of years. Pitt has also confirmed that the club will be appealing Anisius Lewis's controversial red card in their victory over Chesham.

The club has also brought in striker George Evans on loan from League One side Bromley. Evans made five first-team appearances for the Ravens, including four in the EFL, and scored in their 2-2 draw with Barnet last season. He enjoyed an excellent debut against Chesham, scoring his side's second goal and providing an assist, earning him the Braintree supporters' player of the match award for his performance.

Braintree's Next Fixture

Braintree's next fixture is vs Chelmsford City on 2026-12-26. The club will be looking to build on their recent win and continue their push for promotion in the National League.
